A 17-year-old boy drove himself to a hospital after he was shot in the stomach and legs in Knoxville neighborhood this afternoon, Pittsburgh police said.
Officers from the city's Zone 3 station in Allentown went to the 300 block of Arabella Street about 12:40 p.m. after neighbors heard gunshots and someone reported seeing a boy lying shot on the sidewalk.
When police arrived, they found a large crowd and blocked off a crime scene near the front porch of a home and the street in front of it, police spokeswoman Diane Richard wrote in an email.
She said officers found shell casings in the street and underneath some nearby cars.
A witness told police she saw a gold Chevrolet Impala leave Arabella Street and head toward Grimes Avenue around the time she heard the gunshots, Ms. Richard said.
Ms. Richard did not identify the hospital where the boy went but said he is in critical condition.
