The City of Pittsburgh will expand its recycling program in the coming weeks to add 80 bins in business districts in Lawrenceville, Oakland, Shadyside,Squirrel Hill and the Strip District, the mayor's office announced today.
The expansion comes with the help of a $433,000 performance grant from the state Department of Environmental Protection and with money from the mayor's Taking Care of Business program, a news release said.
The blue, 35-gallon containers are lashed to poles in business districts for use by pedestrians. The city already has about 50 bins across the city, with a goal of putting bins in every city business district.
