A City of Pittsburgh program to repair and weatherize the homes of veterans, seniors and low-income residents has received $575,000 in grants that will allow it to expand its services, Mayor Luke Ravenstahl announced today.
The Sustainable Home Improvement Partnership was awarded $500,000 from the Richard King Mellon Foundation and $75,000 from the Pittsburgh Foundation.
The grant money will allow the program to repair 75 homes in Hilltop neighborhoods and Homewood. More than 700 volunteers will provide the labor for the projects as a part of the city's servePGH program, a community service initiative.
