Mayor Luke Ravenstahl's press secretary, Joanna Doven, is resigning Thursday.

"I've accomplished as much as I can accomplish in the position and I'm exploring new opportunities," Ms. Doven said. "In the meantime, I'm enjoying being the mother of two young kids."

She would not comment on whether the federal probe of the city Police Bureau and related matters was a factor in the move.

Ms. Doven, 28, of Lincoln Place has two children aged 2 months and 21 months. She is married to city Public Safety Director Michael Huss.

She started working for the city in 2006 and became Mr. Ravenstahl's spokeswoman in May 2007, a few months after he took over as mayor.

She said she was proudest of introducing social media tools to communicating with the public and the press in her six years in the position, and thanked Mr. Ravenstahl for giving her the job.

"It was extremely exciting and rewarding and I gained decades of wisdom over a few short years," she said.
