The James A. Magovern, M.D. "Hearts in the Park Walk," a North Side event put on by Allegheny General Hospital and meant to raise awareness of heart disease, will take place this morning.
Registered participants in the 2-mile walk will have access to blood pressure screenings, chair massages and healthy lifestyle education.
There will also be children's activities throughout the course.
There is a $20 participation fee, which goes to fund research and education about heart disease, hospital spokesman Dan Laurent said this morning.
Walk-up registrations are welcome.
Mr. Laurent said the event typically draws between 300 and 500 people.
This year's walk, the 10th annual one, takes place from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Allegheny Commons in West Park, across from the hospital on East North Avenue.
