Allegheny Valley Railroad has filed a second lawsuit challenging Buncher Co.'s proposed development of riverfront land in the Strip District.
The railroad on Friday asked Allegheny County Common Pleas Court to overturn the city's December decision giving a special zoning designation to the 55-acre site.
In the suit, filed by attorney Jonathan Kamin, the railroad claims that the special zoning regulations are improper because it owns an easement across the project site and didn't agree to the zoning designation.
Mr. Kamin said a trial is scheduled to begin Thursday in Common Pleas Court on a related suit that the railroad filed against the city Urban Redevelopment Authority in September.
Buncher's development plans include acquiring the historic produce terminal from the authority and demolishing one-third of it so 17th Street can be extended from Smallman Street to the Allegheny River.
