A home in Carrick sustained heavy damage after an early morning fire, according to the Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire, but no one was injured in the blaze.
Pittsburgh deputy fire Chief Michael Mullen said the two-story, single family house in the 1900 block of Plateau Street is "structurally probably beyond repair." No injuries were reported and the two occupants weren't home at the time.
The fire broke out before 3:45 a.m. and was under control about 6 a.m. Firefighters had some initial problems, Deputy Chief Mullen said, because of the hydrant spacings and the limited ability to get inside the home. Additional crews were called in to help open the walls and put out the fire.
The fire is not suspicious and remains under routine investigation.
