The redevelopment of the former G.C. Murphy building in Market Square is receiving an award from The National Trust for Historic Preservation.
Through a $40 million renovation by developers Millcraft Industries and Strada Architecture the building, now called Market Square Place, was turned into a 46 rental lofts, 25,000-square feet of retail and new space for the Downtown YMCA. The green renovation received LEED gold certification.
Strada will receive one of 22 awards from the trust at its 2012 National Preservation Conference next week in Spokane, Wash.
