Pittsburgh City Council today gave final approval to a $10,000 settlement with an Elliott man who claimed that police repeatedly struck him in a failed bid to shake drugs loose from his body.
Donald Schutz said he didn't have any drugs on him.
In a federal lawsuit, Mr. Schutz said officers pulled over his vehicle in November 2006 on Crucible Street in Crafton Heights. He said the officers then performed a tactic that involves striking and grabbing a suspect to dislodge hidden drugs.
Mr. Schutz said the incident caused him physical and emotional injuries.
