A Lincoln-Lemington man will head to trial in connection with the robbery and slaying of a 17-year-old boy found dead under the Larimer Avenue bridge earlier this month.
Shawn Jones, 18, waived his right to a preliminary hearing today on charges of criminal conspiracy, homicide and robbery in the death of Elijah Washington, who was found Sept. 5.
Police are still searching for 17-year-old Tyqwan Brooks, of Larimer, who will also be charged in the killing.
A witness who was with Mr. Jones and Mr. Brooks during the shooting told police the group went from a porch on Apple Avenue to Larimer Avenue and decided to walk under the bridge.
The witness, unidentified in a criminal complaint, said Mr. Brooks asked to use his cell phone during the walk but wouldn't say why or where they were going.
Shots were fired immediately after the witness asked Mr. Brooks to return his phone.
Mr. Jones will be formally arraigned Oct. 29 in the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas.
