West Homestead centennial events calendar

Saturday: Fishing tournament, 7:30-8 a.m. registration, fishing from 8 a.m. to noon; outdoor barbecue starting at 11 a.m. and cookout at the fire hall parking lot.

Sunday: 2:30 p.m. ribbon cutting at the new municipal building at 8 th and Forrest Avenues; 4:30-6:30 p.m. catered lunch for all residents; 4-8:30 p.m. music and dancing; 8:30 p.m. showing of the movie "River Ran Red" at the fire hall.

Tuesday: West Homestead Day at Sandcastle Park.

June 27: Activities Day at the Community Park starting at 3:30 p.m. Activities include a basketball foul-shooting contest, home-run derby for all ages, a softball game between the West Homestead police and volunteer firefighters and an outdoor showing of "Remember The Titans."

June 29: Fair and activities at Community Park starting at 6 p.m. Activities include a hot air balloon, ethnic dancers, food booths, a K9 demonstration and a "Decorate and Eat you own Eat 'n Park Cookie" contest.

June 30: Final day celebration, including a 5K walk-and-run with registration at 8 a.m. and the walk/run at 9 a.m.; 4 p.m. parade; concession stands and a fair starting at 5:30 p.m.; live entertainment including B94's Bubba; fireworks at 10 p.m.
