So far this year, 26 homicides have occurred in Pittsburgh. City police have made arrests or obtained warrants for suspects in 17 cases, which police call a 65 percent "clearance rate." Following are the nine cases in which no suspects have been charged.
JAN. 5 -- NORTH SIDE
Jarreau Lane, 23: Lane was shot as he walked on the North Side. Police believe he was killed in retaliation for the Jan. 2 shooting of Edward Howard. Howard survived.
FEB. 12 -- SOUTH SIDE
Jamie Daniels, 21: Daniels was struck at least twice by gunfire as he drove across the Smithfield Street Bridge. The car was registered to his passenger, Michael Eugene Cheatom, 21, who ran for help.
FEB. 16 -- WESTWOOD
Anthony Wilkinson, 42: Wilkinson, a native of Charleston, S.C., had been staying at a home on Kearns Avenue. A man arrived at the house, fought with Wilkinson, shot him once and fled.
FEB. 22 -- HOMEWOOD
John Carter, 22: Carter died of gunshot wounds to the head and upper body. His body was found behind a building on Fleury Way.
MARCH 28 -- DOWNTOWN
David Nied, 27: Nied and a friend were beaten by four men in the 500 block of Liberty Avenue outside the Kaos after-hours club. Nied died.
APRIL 3 -- HOMEWOOD
Darrell Brown, 50: Brown bled to death after a bullet penetrated both legs. Residents of the 500 block of Multi Way found him about 10 p.m.
APRIL 12 -- HOMEWOOD
Edward G. Hood, 24: Hood was shot in the head as he sat on the back porch of his sister's home on Hamilton Avenue.
APRIL 29 -- HOMEWOOD
Raquel Tilisha Carter, 16: The teen disappeared April 28. Her body was found the next day at the end of Banfield Street. She had been stabbed.
MAY 5 -- BELTZHOOVER
Darnell A. Harris, 22: Harris was found shot in the neck in an alley at 8:20 a.m. at Bolivar Way and Chalfont Street.
