It looks like Billie Joe Armstrong's stint in rehab is more serious than originally thought.
Green Day announced Monday that it is postponing its 2013 tour, including the Jan. 14 date at Consol Energy Center. According to the band, new dates will be announced shortly and previously purchased tickets will be honored.
Frontman Armstrong has been in rehab since late September.
"Obviously the timing for this isn't ideal, but Billie Joe's well-being is our main concern," bassist Mike Dirnt said in a statement. "We are happy to say that Billie Joe is doing well, and we want to thank you all for the outpouring of support and well wishes that we have received, and we can't wait to see you all again soon."
Green Day also announced it was moving up the release date of the album "Tre!" to Dec. 11 from its original date of Jan. 15.
"We feel bad we have to delay our tour, so to make up for it we want to give our fans the music earlier than we had planned," said drummer Tre Cool. "If we couldn't be there to play it for you live, the least we could do was give you the next best thing."
After 13 years at 5972 Baum Blvd., music club The Shadow Lounge is moving out of its East Liberty location in the spring.
Shadow Lounge management announced Monday that it is discontinuing its lease due to increased operating expenses and sound proofing costs that would keep it from disturbing the neighbors in the increasingly upscale area. It will search for a standalone building to purchase and hopes to reopen by 2015.
The Shadow Lounge has been the go-to place for everything from hip-hop to alternative folk, playing host to such artists as Mac Miller, KRS-One, Wale, Shabazz Palaces and Little Dragon.
Mac Miller tweeted Monday might: "shadow lounge. you will be missed. i can only hope we will see you again old friend."
The company will still operate AVA, which will be renovated, and the Blue Room at 126 S. Highland Ave.
Owner Justin Strong was unavailable for comment but said in a press release, "Even with all the outside pressure that we have experienced over the summer, this is really about the importance of owning property. Now is the time to make sure we do not make the same mistake twice, and to position the Shadow Lounge to be in the path of opportunity."
