First Jake, now Maggie Gyllenhaal.

She has been cast as the other female lead in "Still I Rise" also starring Viola Davis and shooting in Pittsburgh this spring and summer.

Ms. Gyllenhaal, whose brother came to Pittsburgh for "Love & Other Drugs," was nominated for an Oscar for "Crazy Heart" and (coincidentally) was Bruce Wayne's childhood friend, Rachel Dawes, in "The Dark Knight." The character was killed in the second of Christopher Nolan's three movies, the last of which will be coming to Pittsburgh this summer.

In a further connection, the actress's husband, Peter Sarsgaard, was one of the stars of the movie version of "The Mysteries of Pittsburgh." They are the parents of a 4-year-old daughter.

As reported in the Post-Gazette on April 27, Tony Award winner Viola Davis will play a middle-class teacher and mother of one child in a story about two strong women who channel their frustration into action and join forces to transform an inner-city school.

Ms. Davis also was a 2008 Oscar nominee for her supporting role in "Doubt" opposite Meryl Streep. She was unforgettable as a mother trying to keep her son -- hated by his own father, picked on by his classmates and the possible target of abuse by a priest -- safe in 1964.

Daniel Barnz ("Beastly") will direct "Still I Rise," an original story. Filming is expected to start May 23 and wrap in mid-July.

Fourth River Casting in Pittsburgh is accepting applications for an experienced stand-in for Ms. Gyllenhaal.

Candidates should be 5-feet-9 or 5-feet-10, a size 2-4 and have pale skin. Hair color and cut are unimportant. Applicants must be available from May 23 through the end of July.
