Insights from Broadway pros

Stephen Sondheim, composer

Kathleen Marshall's "staging of 'Babes in Arms' was a delight and innovative, given the exigencies of the Encores! stage." In directing "Saturday Night," her strength was "the charm and warmth she put on stage."

"I don't know whether the suggestion of Kathleen to choreograph 'Follies' came first from Matthew Warchus or Todd Haimes, but there was never anybody else considered." Though young, she is "not young in terms of experience. She's seasoned; she's a pro."

"Both [Marshalls] are a delight to work with -- enthusiastic, smart. I'd work with either again in a heartbeat."

Graciella Danielle, choreographer/director

"When I worked as assistant to Michael Bennett, he used to say he saw I could be a choreographer and director. I didn't understand that, but when I met Robby, I saw the same thing. So he assisted me on 'The Rink' and 'Mystery of Edwin Drood.' I saw he had a creative mind, not just an interpretive one."
