Dracula
Wear black pants and a white button-down shirt. Turn the shirt collar up and tie a skinny black ribbon bow tie. Put on a black jacket.
Make a cape by cutting a batwing edge to a black plastic trash bag that already has been cut open.
Brush your hair back from your face.
Paint your face with white face paint. Use black face paint to add thick eyebrows and to color eyelids and lips. Finish with a dribble of red face paint on the chin.
Captain Hook
The only really essential part to this costume is the hook. Everything else is nice, but optional.
Use a coat hanger and bend the wire into a "J" shape with a pair of pliers.
Wrap the hook with a bunch of aluminum foil. You can use glue to keep it from unwrapping, if necessary.
Cut a slit up the side of a plastic or paper cup. Continue the slit to the top of the cup where you cut a circle big enough to fit around the hook you've made.
Cover the cup with aluminum foil - again, use glue if necessary. Stick the hook through the cup, and - where you've made the slit - tape the cup's sides back together. That's it.
If you want to complete the look, take a thrift store bathrobe and place a frilly women's blouse underneath. Top with a pirate's hat.
Tarzan or Jane
There are two approaches you can take:
Use two plain-colored towels. Pin them together at the shoulder. Put them on, then wrap a cord at the waist. Add leopard spots with black tape.
Use a huge T-shirt - orange works best. Paint it with fabric paint first if you can only find a white T-shirt and want to make it orange. Once it's dry, stick your head and one arm through the headhole. Use fabric paint to make black tiger stripes.
