County Council President James Simms has dissolved council's special committee on parks in a move that the committee's chairman has decried as politically motivated.
Councilman Vince Gastgeb, R-Bethel Park, said he suspects Simms, D-Hill District, didn't want a Republican-led committee to get any positive publicity for park improvements in an election year.
"I think it's being done for political reasons," Gastgeb said after receiving a letter from Simms.
Simms said special committees, as opposed to standing committees, are supposed to be dissolved after completing their mission.
