Homicide charges against a Laurel Mountain man were dismissed today.

Ligonier Magisterial District Judge Denise S. Thiel dismissed the case against Gregory Randall at a preliminary hearing, saying prosecutors had failed to establish enough evidence to move the case to Westmoreland County Common Pleas Court.

District Attorney John Peck plans to refile the charges and hopes to have that done later today so Mr. Randall is not released from custody

He is accused of killing his girlfriend, Angela Cavalero, whose body was found inside the couple's home May 9 after family members asked police to check on her.

Officers found blood in the kitchen of the home and the body of Ms. Cavalero, 52, by a rear door. She died from head injuries.
