Police in Rostraver, Westmoreland County, obtained a warrant today for a Donora man they believe robbed an 80-year-old woman at her home early Tuesday morning after telling her he ran out of gas and needed help.
Township police believe Errin Shane Rose, 44, acted alone when he pushed his way into the woman's Belrose Drive home about 1:40 a.m., told her he had a gun, then demanded money before ordering her to undress and not move from the couch for 10 minutes.
He then ripped the phone from the wall, and, according to the woman, left with about $150, police wrote in a criminal complaint.
On Thursday, Mr. Rose was arrested on two unrelated warrants, both involving alleged thefts.
At the township police station, he "did unwittingly make incriminating statements that place him in the area of the crime" on Belrose Drive, police said in a news release, then told investigators he was experiencing chest pain.
He was taken to the hospital and, once released, will be arraigned on charges of robbery, theft, burglary and receiving stolen property.
Police said he has an extensive criminal history in Westmoreland and Washington counties.
