An Export man has been sentenced to three years and two months in prison for possession of child pornography and threatening a postal inspector with death.

Todd R. Markley, 49, was under investigation for child pornography when, on May 31, 2012, he wrote an email to a postal inspector claiming he had put "a $3,000 bounty on her head" and would have her gangraped and killed, prosecutors alleged in charges to which he pleaded guilty.

Markley's defense attorney said that he suffered from many medical conditions and was so distraught that he tried to kill himself on the day he wrote the email. assistant U.S. attorney Jessica Lieber Smolar countered with testimony that Markley faced a lie detector test that day in relation to the child pornography charges.

U.S. District Judge David S. Cercone imposed the sentence, which includes a $5,000 fine and 10 years of federal probation, on Tuesday.
