A man died when the asphalt roller he was working on at a Westmoreland County fuel company "unexpectedly started" and drove over him Tuesday, state police said.

Robert E. Buskey Jr., 55, of Loyalhanna, was pronounced dead at Export Fuel Company on York Lane in Salem about 4 p.m., 40 minutes after witnesses said the paving roller he was working on "lurched forward pinning [him]," the Westmoreland County coroner's office said in a news release.

Mr. Buskey worked as a mechanic at Export Fuel Co. Police have labeled his death an accident, although the coroner's office said the official cause and manner of death are pending until an autopsy is completed today.

Vaia Funeral Home in Delmont is coordinating the funeral arrangements.
