Opening statements are expected next week in the trial of one of two men charged in the 2008 shooting deaths of a Beaver Falls couple.

Jury selection for the trial of Devon Shealey should be completed Monday.

Shealey, 27, faces more than 30 charges — including homicide, kidnapping, robbery and a firearms count — in the slayings of Richard and Demetria Harper, both 32. They were found bound and shot in the basement of their home in what authorities allege was a drug dispute.

Shealey was serving time at the State Correctional Institution Mahanoy in Frackville on unrelated charges at the time of his arrest in 2012.

Robert Burgess, 37, is scheduled for trial in October.

Police said two men wearing masks and gloves entered the home and forced the couple's daughters, then 10 and 8, into a locked basement furnace room. The bodies were also found in the basement, each with a gunshot wound to the head.
