An Ohio man is accused of traveling to Butler County last week to meet a 14-year-old girl for sex after months of sending her explicit text messages, the Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office said today.

Jacob Meadows, 21, of East Palestine, was arraigned Saturday on charges of unlawful contact with a minor, attempted involuntary deviant sexual intercourse, and criminal use of a communication facility. He is being held in the Butler County Prison on $150,000 bail.

Agents from the AG's office Child Predator Section and Cranberry police detectives discovered the girl was being sexually exploited through texts and that Mr. Meadows started texting her when she was 13 years old, the AG's office said in a press release

Undercover agents, pretending to be the girl, then exchanged about 500 text messages with Mr. Meadows between Nov. 13, 2013, and last Friday. The "majority" of Meadows' texts were sexual in nature, the AG's office said, some soliciting her for sex or asking her to send him nude pictures.

On Friday, Mr. Meadows sent texts encouraging the girl to sneak away from her father's house to meet him for sex that night, the AG's office said. He was arrested when he arrived in Cranberry.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 2.
