A Penn Hills man surrendered today on charges that he fatally shot a man in McKees Rocks last week.
Trevon Kendrick, 21, of Penn Hills, faces charges of homicide, conspiracy and two gun violations in connection with the Wednesday shooting death of Orlando Ferguson, 20, of McKees Rocks.
Police were called to the intersection of Helen and Robb streets shortly after 11 a.m. Wednesday for a report of a shooting. When they arrived, they found Mr. Ferguson lying in the parking lot with multiple gunshot wounds. He died at Allegheny General Hospital less than an hour later.
The Allegheny County medical examiner's office noted during an autopsy that Mr. Ferguson was struck seven times -- twice in the right arm, once in the right knee, twice in the buttocks, once in the middle back, once in the lower back.
Surveillance video showed a silver Dodge Charger driving near the area of the shooting scene shortly before it occurred and Pittsburgh police later stopped a silver Dodge Charger with a bullet hole while its occupants drove through Beechview, according to a criminal complaint.
Inside the car, Allegheny County police found eight spent shell casings and a wallet with a driver's license, social security card and debit card belonging to Mr. Kendrick, police wrote.
Mr. Kendrick is currently in the Allegheny County Jail awaiting arraignment.
