FUNDRAISERS  

Bridgeville — The Samuel J Foundation will sponsor “Laughter Is The Best Medicine” at 8 p.m. March 1 in the Chartiers Room at the Bridgeville Volunteer Fire Department, 370 Commercial St. Featured will be comics Matt Wohlfarth, Andy Piccaro and Chuck Mignanelli. Doors open at 6 p.m., with a buffet dinner from Texas Roadhouse served at 6:30 p.m. The cost is $25 in advance and $30 at the door; price includes dinner. Tables of 10 can be reserved in advance for $250 and must be paid by Tuesday. Information: 724-693-9901.

ON STAGE

Carnegie — The Andrew Carnegie Free Library & Music Hall, 300 Beechwood Ave., will host a "Roots" concert by the Freya String Quartet at 7:30 p.m. Monday as part of the Listen Locally chamber music series. Included in the program will be Armenian folk songs, a work from Swedish-American composer Matthew Peterson and more. Information: 724-276-3456.

SENIORS

Heidelberg — The borough will hold a ladies' tea at 1 p.m. today in the Community Room, 1639 E. Railroad St. Information: 412-276-0363.

SPEAKERS

Center — Penn State Beaver invites the public to attend a free presentation by Deo Mwano, a multicultural activist and choreographer, will speak at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday in the campus Student Union Building auditorium. Information: 724-773-3947 or www.deomwano.com.

WORKSHOPS

Baden — The Sisters of St. Joseph will host “How to Start Plants from Seeds” from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday at their Motherhouse, 1020 State St. Presenter will be Sister Lyn Szymkiewicz, director of grounds and eco-projects. Donation is $10. Information: 724-869-6524.
