Man dies in Beaver County house fire

Hours after fire destroyed a home in Beaver County, firefighters located the body of the man who lived there, KDKA-TV reported.

A home in the 100 block of West Mowry Road in Potter caught fire around 8 a.m., officials said. Just before 6 p.m., Mike Mitko, 75, was located in the home, KDKA-TV reported. His wife was safe. They had had been married for 30 years.

The intensity of the fire prevented firefighters from getting into the home to search for Mr. Mitko and the family dog, Potter Township Fire Chief Vicki Carlton said. The cause of the fire is not known.
