A husband and wife died when their house in Industry burned down last night, but investigators are still trying to determine how the fire started.

Pennsylvania State Police said autopsies are scheduled today for Thomas Modany, 53, and his wife Jeanne, 52, who lived at the Pine Grove Road home with their dog.

The dog also died in the fire, state police said.

The fire was reported shortly after 5:30 p.m. A passerby told police he saw the flames and banged on the door, state police said, but the interior of the house was already fully engulfed and no one responded.

Jeanne Modany was discovered in the kitchen and her husband in a breezeway heading to the garage, state police said.

Luke Nelson, a state police fire investigator, said the blaze appeared to have started in the living room. He said it doesn't appear suspicious but he didn't yet know the cause.
