Crash snarls Parkway West traffic

A multivehicle crash snarled traffic on the inbound Parkway West this morning.

The crash occurred near the ramps for the West Busway and was reported around 6:30 a.m. Traffic was backed well beyond Interstate 79 on the parkway, and on northbound I-79 approaching the parkway. The crash was cleared about an hour later.

Pennsylvania State Police said no one was seriously injured.

Traffic on the parkway backed beyond Interstate 79 and northbound I-79 traffic was backed to Kirwan Heights.

A second crash on the outbound Parkway West at Green Tree around the same time caused its own snarls, with traffic backing beyond the Fort Pitt Tunnels.

A third crash occurred on the inbound side between Carnegie and Green Tree around 8:30 a.m., blocking the left and center lanes. No other information was immediately available.
