South Fayette school board members tonight discussed the possibility of moving up the high school football team from Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association Class AA to Class AAA for the 2014-15 school year.

Board member Len Fornella said football players would benefit from more challenging competition.

“I don’t think they’re learning anything if they’re beating teams by 40, 50, 60 [points],” he said.

The South Fayette Lions are undefeated so far this season, with an 8-0 record.

Superintendent Bille Rondinelli said the district will discuss the reclassification idea with the athletic director and coaching staff.
