Lawrence County man charged with raping young girl

An Ellwood City man surrendered today on charges he raped a girl for three years in various locations in Lawrence County, Pennsylvania State Police said.

James Glenn Baxter Jr., 36, was arraigned today after state police said a four-month investigation revealed he had inappropriate sexual contact with a girl he knew who was 10 years old when the abuse began in March 2009.

The assaults occurred at a location on Harlansburg Road in Scott Township and elsewhere in Lawrence County, according to a state police press release.

Mr. Baxter has been charged with two counts each of rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, unlawful contact with a minor, statutory sexual assault and other related offenses.

He is being held in the Lawrence County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bond.
