Chef and children's author Rizzi DeFabo who wrote "Rizzi and Nonna and the Wedding Cookies" will speak about writing with students in grades 1-3 today.
He also will help them to ice their own wedding cookies.
He will be accompanied by his illustrator, who will talk about art and draw for the children.
On Friday, Frank Garland, author of "Willie Stargell: A Life in Baseball" will speak to children in grades 6-8 about his experiences as a writer and about baseball.
Discussion on whether the district should close one or more of its aging elementary school buildings will continue after the Oct. 28 board meeting in the high school auditorium, University Boulevard.
The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. After the voting session, a 90-minute gathering concerning demographics and scenarios about the elementary school buildings will be held.
This will be the third in a series of meetings held by directors to gather public input on the topics.
Questions from previous meetings will be answered and residents can speak about the issue.
