Musical comedy opens tonight

The Brodhead Cultural Center's summer season of programs will feature "The Drowsy Chaperone," by the Center Theatre Players today, Friday and Saturday in the auditorium of the Beaver campus Student Union Building.

In another presentation in the 37th season of summer programs, the Monaca Cornet Band will perform at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in a free concert in the summer season of programs on Tuesday, June 18. Shows are free and will be held in the J.P. Giusti Amphitheater on the Penn State Beaver campus.

In the event of inclement weather, the show will be moved into the auditorium of the Beaver campus Student Union Building.

Mini-Golf course reopens

The Crafton mini-golf course is back in operation from 5 to 9 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and from 1 to 5 p.m. Sundays across from Crafton Park on Steuben Street near the Crafton-Ingram Shopping Center.

The tree-shaded course recently was renovated and updated by volunteers from DOXA Church.

Admission is $2 per person or two games for $3. Tickets must be purchased at the cashiers booth at the Crafton Pool across the street from the course. Parking is in the pool parking lot or behind the golf course in the Crafton Athletic Field lot.

The golf course also will be available for parties.

Proceeds will benefit the borough recreation programs.


Borough celebrates Ingram Days

Food, games, crafts, music and entertainment will be featured during the 34th Ingram Days Celebration starting at noon Saturday and at 3 p.m. Sunday in Ingram Park on Foster Avenue.

The festivities begin with a parade at noon Saturday on Ingram Avenue followed by the opening of food, game and craft booths from 1 to 11 p.m., entertainment throughout the day and a performance by the band "The Jukebox" at 7:30.

On Sunday, there will be an Ingram idol talent show, entertainment and Zambelli fireworks at 9:30.


Montour Run bridges are closed

The Allegheny County Department of Public Works today announced that the Montour Run bridges 4 and 5 have been closed for repairs. The work will continue through mid-November.

Bridge 4 is on Enlow Road at the intersection of Cliff Mine Road. Bridge 5 is on Cliff Mine Road at Oak Moss Drive.

Enlow Road is closed at Cliff Mine and Cliff Mine is closed from Enlow Road to Oak Moss Drive. Truck and automobile detours will be posted for Enlow and Cliff Mine Roads.

The work zone will also impact the traffic on the Montour Trail, but the Montour Trail and the parking area at Enlow and Cliff Mine Road will remain open.

The bridge closures are necessary to complete improvements to abutments, approaches, bridge seats, scour protection and for the construction of new bridge decks and to replace box beams.

The prime contractor is Pugliano Constructions, Inc. of Plum.


Road repairs will restrict traffic

There will be traffic restrictions this week during maintenance by state Department of Transportation crews on these Beaver County roads:

Route 65, Ambridge - Patching between Merchant Street and South Branch.

Zeigler Road, New Sewickley - Patching between Route 68 and Glen Eden Road.

Glen Eden Road, New Sewickley - Patching between Butler County and Route 989.

Route 989, New Sewickley - Patching between Big Knob Road and the Pennsylvania Turnpike bridge.

Pine Run Road, New Sewickley and Freedom - Patching between Big Knob and Unionville roads.

Constitution Boulevard, Chippewa - Shoulder improvements between I-376 and Cove Hill Road.
