Charges against a West Allegheny Senior High School math teacher and assistant wrestling coach accused of having sex with a former student in 2012 have been dropped.
"We had some evidentiary issues in moving forward, and our victim had changed her story, which substantially effected the original facts of the case," said Mike Manko, spokesman for the Allegheny County District Attorney's Office.
He declined to elaborate.
William Morosetti, 29, of Coraopolis, had been charged with six felony counts of institutional sex assault of a minor and a misdemeanor count of furnishing alcohol to a minor.
The charges were dropped last week.
Defense attorney Michael D. Foglia was not immediately available. A woman who identified herself as Mr. Morosetti's mother said by phone that the family had no comment.
Mr. Morosetti remains suspended without pay from his teaching and coaching jobs.
West Allegheny School District spokeswoman Karen Ruhl wrote in an email that the district could not discuss the case in detail, but added that he was still employed "pending the outcome of labor arbitration." Her email did not elaborate.neigh_west
