A Robinson man who has run an accounting firm was indicted this week and accused of filing false income tax returns and making false statements to government.
Wayne R. Lieberman, 61, was indicted and arrested Wednesday in U.S. District Court. He also faces theft charges filed last year in the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas.
Online listings indicate that the Wayne R. Lieberman Agency is based at his home address.
Mr. Lieberman was accused in the indictment of submitting false returns for tax years 2007 and 2008, representing his income in the former year as $33,462 when it was really $144,704, and in the latter as $32,607 when he earned $86,109.
The indictment also accused him of misrepresenting himself as an agent of Bob's Car Care Inc. and of covering up his preparation of returns from 2010 through 2013 by suggested that they were prepared by a business called Jen's Tax Service.
Mr. Lieberman is not listed as a licensed accountant in the Pennsylvania Corporations Bureau's online license search system.
Information on his license history was not immediately available.
The IRS criminal investigations division conducted the probe that led to the indictment.neigh_west
