A rehabilitation project is planned for two 1.5 million-gallon water storage tanks on the former Mayview State Hospital site in South Fayette, township officials said tonight.

Pennsylvania American Water Co. plans to paint the steel tanks, add stormwater management facilities, construct a 16-inch potable water line to connect with existing distribution facilities along Mayview Road and add a flow control valve, according to a letter from Lennon, Smith, Souleret Engineering Inc. of Coraopolis.

The water company is applying for state Department of Environmental Protection permits, and the township can submit any land use concerns associated with the plan, the letter says.
