• Due to low enrollment and increasing costs, directors voted Monday night to withdraw from the Alternative Center for Education program operated by the Parkway West Career and Technology Center in North Fayette.

The district joins Chartiers Valley, Cornell, Mt. Lebanon, Quaker Valley and South Fayette school districts in withdrawing participation next year. At its inception in 1989, the alternative high school was made up of 12 school districts.

Keystone Oaks withdrew several years ago when it formed its own in-house alternative school. This year, Moon Area started its own cyber school.

A vote by the alternative high school's board asking to close the program was postponed in November. Members are scheduled to consider the proposition in January.

n The board approved change orders related to the middle school project for an increased cost of $66,765.

The school board voted 7-0 on Nov. 21, with members Ed Faux and Linda Diffendal absent, to approve pay raises for the superintendent, principals, department heads and other administrators.

Net increases are 1.71 percent for 18 administrators and 2.57 percent for five administrative confidential secretaries. Total cost of the raises for 23 people is $27,994. The 2012-2013 raise amounts are smaller than last year's 3.25-percent increase.

Superintendent John DiSanti's salary increased by $2,533, to $150,640. The salaries of the two assistants to the superintendent, Christine Assetta and William Englert, increased by $2,037, to $121,139.

A district press statement said base raises were 3 percent, but administrators agreed to contribute three days of salary - and secretaries one day of pay - to offset health insurance costs.
