A Beaver County man was arrested Thursday on charges that he shot an 8-year-old girl who was dressed as a skunk.

Thomas Grant, 24, of Rochester was arraigned Thursday on charges of aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and simple assault.

New Sewickley police were called to 376 Brewer Road shortly after 8 p.m. on Saturday for a report that a girl dressed as a skunk had been shot. Medics flew her to Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC, where she remained in critical condition Thursday, New Sewickley police Chief Ronald Leindecker said.

Chief Leindecker said officers interviewed several witnesses before charging Mr. Grant. Court records show Mr. Grant posted $10,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing Nov. 1.
