Montour's planned new elementary school for pre-school through fourth grade will be constructed on the 110-acre high school campus on Clever Road in Robinson.

The school board voted 8-0 tonight, with one member absent, to submit preliminary plans to the state Department of Education to build a $55 million elementary school next to the high school, the stadium and the athletic/swimming center. Opening is scheduled for fall 2015.

Superintendent Donald Boyer said the project's estimated cost is on the high side and could end up lower. The district and Architectural Innovations LLC of Ross will work out design details over the next year, he said.

The school will allow consolidation of all K-4 pupils into a single building, plus provide space for a new, half-day pre-kindergarten program, Mr. Boyer said.
