A McKees Rocks home where a burglary suspect was believed to be hiding has been cleared by Allegheny County SWAT unit, according to KDKA-TV.

McKees Rocks police chief Robert Cifrulak said the owner of 1350 Chartiers Ave. arrived home after 5 p.m. and found the front door kicked in. When police entered, they found one of the homeowner's dogs bleeding from stab wounds. As officers attended to the dog, they thought they heard sounds coming from the home's second floor. The Allegheny County SWAT unit was called to the scene as a precaution because the homeowner has a collection of guns.

The dog, a boxer, is being treated for injuries. Investigation into the burglary is ongoing.
