Police said they have charged a Moon man with reckless driving after he struck a teenage girl with his pickup truck in October.

Clifford Dilley, 76, was arraigned Tuesday on charges of causing an accident involving injury and reckless driving.

Mr. Dilley told police in October that he was driving along Moon Clinton Road one night when he swerved to avoid hitting a deer. When he heard something hit his car, he thought it was a deer so he kept driving, he told police.

Police suspect he actually hit a 17-year-old girl who was found in the road with serious injuries. The girl survived the accident.

Mr. Dilley surrendered to police after he saw news accounts about the accident.
