Workers at Washington Hospital ratified a three-year contract Wednesday night that will move all newly hired and current workers in the lowest paid departments to $15 an hour by the end of the pact.
Workers will receive wage increases each year of the agreement. Additionally, the contract secures the retirement program and maintains affordable health care for all three years, according to a statement from SEIU Healthcare Pennsylvania and Local 95 of the International Union of Operating Engineers.
Nearly 400 hospital blue-collar workers are represented by the unions. They began negotiations in late December and their contract expired Jan. 31. A two-day strike had been scheduled for later this month.
