A Washington County man was killed today when he fell through the roof of a vacant building and landed on a concrete floor more than 18 feet below, the coroner there said.

Rea D. Jones, 59, of Chartiers and two contractors, who were going to do repairs, were on the roof of the building he owned in the 100 block of Wilson Road in Bentleyville, coroner Timothy Warco said in a press release.

Mr. Jones was transported to the emergency room of Monongahela Valley Hospital, where he died at 2:19 p.m. of blunt force trauma, the coroner said. Mr. Warco ruled the death accidental.

State police in the Belle Vernon barracks are investigating.
