Pedestrian struck, killed in North Strabane

A pedestrian was struck by a car and killed today in North Strabane, the Allegheny County medical examiner's office said.

Daniel Kapis, Jr., 64, of Canonsburg was not in a crosswalk as he navigated across Washington Road at Route 519 around 3:42 p.m., the office said. While cars attempted to avoid the pedestrian, one hit him.

Mr. Kapis died at 4:57 p.m. at Allegheny General Hospital. An autopsy will be performed Saturday.
