A man who died in eastern Washington County after the Bobcat vehicle he was operating slid into a reservoir Wednesday afternoon has been identified.

Samuel V. Vignoli, 87, of New Eagle, had been cutting grass around the reservoir of the former Maple Creek Mine around 4:30 p.m. when the vehicle slid down the steep embankment, according to a news release from the Washington County coroner.

Police responded to a call at 5 p.m. reporting a man missing at a property near Route 136 in Fallowfield, according to a county emergency dispatcher. His body was recovered around midnight.

Police said there is no indication of foul play, KDKA-TV reported.

The cause and manner of death are pending an autopsy, and Pennsylvania State Police in the Washington barracks are investigating.

Units from Fallowfield, Valley Inn Fire Department, Peters, North Strabane, East Beth, Greensburg dive teams and Fort Cherry and Tri-Community Ambulance Service responded.
