One killed during altercation in grocery parking lot

A man died when another man he was arguing with opened fire Thursday afternoon in the parking lot of a grocery store in Washington, Pa.

Vaughn Simonelli, 55, of Washington, was pronounced dead at the Shop'n Save in the 100 block of West Beau Street shortly after the shooting.

Washington County Coroner Tim Warco said Mr. Simonelli and another man were fighting in the parking lot when the other man opened fire, striking Mr. Simonelli once. His death has been ruled a homicide.

Washington, Pa., police are investigating the death. Emergency dispatchers said police took one person in for questioning following the shooting.
