State police today charged two men who they said brawled over the rules golf on a Fayette County course Sunday afternoon.

Bryan Bandes, 42, of Uniontown, and Roger Lee Harris, 63, originally of Uniontown but currently living and working in Egypt, were scheduled to be arraigned today on one count each of simple assault.

Mr. Harris is accused of hitting his acquaintance with a 3-wood during the fight and also was charged with aggravated assault, a felony. Mr. Bandes suffered a mild concussion, according to police.

Mr. Harris suffered a swollen jaw, a split lip and a scratch near his eye.

Neither man could be reached. Attorneys were not listed in court records.

Police have said an argument between the men started on the fifth hole of the Springdale Golf Course in South Union concerning the rule for "casual water," or puddles on the course. Two holes later, police said, an argument about placement of the ball on the fairway turned physical.
