State police are investigating a crash involving a water tank truck and a sport utility vehicle that killed a West Virginia man in Greene County Wednesday.

The county coroner said Leroy Melvin Knisley, 42, of Clarksburg, W.Va., was pronounced dead in the crash, which occurred at 1:15 p.m. on Route 88 in Jefferson.

State police said the Peterbilt water tank truck was traveling south on Route 88 about a half-mile north of Clarksville Road when the driver lost control and veered into the northbound lane. It rolled onto its driver's side and hit the front end of a northbound SUV. The truck then rolled over a hillside onto a garage, police said.

The driver of the SUV, Rachael Kelly of California, Pa., was taken by medical helicopter to Allegheny General Hospital with moderate injuries, police said.

The truck was owned by E.C.M. Energy Co. of Clarksburg, officials said.
