A Thomas Jefferson High School alumna was killed in Washington state, and police on Thursday arrested her boyfriend in her death, according to court records.
Nancy Gardner was reported missing June 30 by her boyfriend, William J. Grisso, 41, court records show. Ms. Gardner grew up in Whitehall and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School, KDKA-TV reported.
Police found her phone at the couple's home, and on it were pictures taken between the time Mr. Grisso said he returned home from running errands and realized Ms. Gardner was missing and when he reported her missing.
Three photos of flowers included coordinates of where the photos werer taken, a criminal complaint stated. At that location, police discovered a decomposing body with a necklace known to be Ms. Gardner's.
The cause of death was not apparent due to the condition of the body, police said. Neighbors told police they heard the couple arguing the day before Ms. Gardner went missing.
During their investigation, police discovered blood on Mr. Grisso's shoes and car, as well as Ms. Gardner's pistol in his car, which he had told police was missing.
Mr. Grisso has been charged with first degree murder, court records filed in Pierce County show. A spokesman from the Pierce County Sheriff's Office was unavailable Thursday night.
