An Upper St. Clair High School student allegedly made a threat toward the school today, according to a statement by the district.

The school district and Upper St. Clair police are investigating, Superintendent Patrick O'Toole said in a brief statement on the district's website.

The alleged threat was reported to a district official and the student was quickly identified and removed from the school, he said.

"The Upper St. Clair School District and the township police are committed to working together for the safety of our students," Mr. O'Toole said. "For the purpose of school safety, it is important that everyone report information or observations of a suspicious nature received at any time to police or school officials."

Mr. O'Toole declined to elaborate further.
