A McKeesport nuisance bar today permanently closed and will be padlocked under an agreement the manager signed today with Allegheny County District Attorney Stephen A. Zappala Jr.

The Mon Valley Sportsmen’s Association in the 2400 block of Gleditsch Alley had been the site of numerous police calls over the past year, often involving violent incidents, and had been declared a nuisance, according to Mike Manko, spokesman for the DA’s office.

Also, a recent surprise inspection revealed numerous underage patrons and several rule violations, Mr. Manko said.

Club president and manager Michael R. Pavlovic agreed to shut down as part of a deal to avert a civil action.

The consent agreement allows Mr. Pavlovic to retain the club’s liquor license, but places it in the hands of the state’s Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement.

Mr. Pavlovic is allowed to transfer the license — pending the DA’s approval — but not to anyone with a history of operating or being involved with a nuisance establishment, the agreement says.
